When Beatrice Warde suggested the concept of the 'Crystal Goblet' typographers knew that the metaphorical representation of typography was aimed at freeing the mind from the prison of the context of the content to be read by viewers and to explore forms and functions to keep the art of producing meaning through letterforms alive.
